Blogging Rules

Division 5: A blog is short for web log or online journal. A blog is public domain. What that means is that anyone with an internet connection can read what you write. They can also respond to what you write. Because of this, there are some rules you must obey for safety and for etiquette. I will read this blog daily to check that all rules are being followed.
For Safety:
  1. Keep your, and other people's, personal details private. Never offer any personal information including your last name, contact information, home address, phone numbers, school's name, e-mail address, last names of friends or relatives, instant messaging names, age, or birth date.
  2. Assume what you publish on the Web is permanent. Anyone on the Internet can easily print out a blog or save it to a computer.
  3. No one wants or needs to know private details about your family life.
  4. No photographs of yourself or others should be posted unless they are group shot, without names, and you have cleared the photo with me first.
For Etiquette:
  1. ALL your posts should be positive, friendly and inoffensive; don't use them for slander or to attack others. That includes gossip. No gossip or negative posts about any other individuals, whether they are in our community or not. Remember, as soon as you post something it's hard to take it back!
  2. Avoid trying to "outdo" or compete with other bloggers; concentrate on your own ideas.
  3. Don't write in UPPER CASE: it is seen as shouting.
  4. No innapropriate words, phrases or pictures are to be posted. Keep your language appropriate, clean and free of any rudeness.
  5. Sign all your posts with only your first-name.
Above all: have fun!
Mr. N

  32. 1. I think the author bounces between Tommo as a young man and Tommo’s memories because so that we know what happened before he grew up in case he starts talking about it in the present. I also think that the reason why the author didn’t make two separate books is because then we would possibly know how sad he is because the way he talks it seems like he’s in the trenches or at least in war. So he wants to remember everything not leaving one detail so we’re basically hearing what he’s thinking.

    2. I think the author named the chapter’s times because what if it is a certain time that the characters need to be somewhere or so the person reading knows how early or how late it actually is unless it’s just a reasonable time.

    3. I think Tommo feels ‘betrayed’ by Molly and Charlie meeting each other in secret because Tommo actually has a crush on Molly.

    4. I think Big Joe is in the church tower because Big Joe says he misses his dad and Bertha. So he thinks that heaven is in the church tower because his mother said that his dad and Bertha was ‘up there’. I also think that because Molly said that he might be in there.

  33. 1. I think this because he wants you to be intrigued in what’s happening in Tommos life. And you know his back story and the people in his life and what he did as a child.
    2. He probably was writing it during the time so he wrote the time instead of the date. And maybe it will all add up at the end of the book.
    3. He feels betrayed because he loves holly since the first day they met and when Charlie met her he liked her too so tommo thought there were judt friends but in the end they were.
    4. Big joe might have killed himself or he might just be on top of the church tower because he thinks poor Bertha is up there. He also thinks on top of the church tower is haven

  34. Private Peaceful

    1. I think the reason that Tommo is going back and forth between his past and present is so we know both sides of the story. He may have been in the middle of war time and everyone wants to know the information.
    2. I think the time is so late because he wants the information to be secret or he might be with a solider that is interviewing him for information about the war.
    3. Tommo feels betrayed by Charlie and Molly because; Charlie and Molly were secretly visiting each other without telling Tommo while Tommo loves Molly so it makes it harder for Tommo to take in.
    4. I think Big Joe is in the bell tower on top of the church because big Joe thinks it is heaven. The reason Big Joe left is to be in heaven [church tower] with his father and Bertha who was recently shot by the sergeant.

  35. 1. I think the author bounces back and forth to Tommo as a young man and Tommo growing up because then you can see how he felt and all his important memories of him growing up.
    2. I think the author does that because then you can see that the book is different from other books.
    3. He feels betrayed because Charlie no’s that Tommo likes Molly and he was the one who’s was passing the notes to Molly from Charlie and from Molly to Charlie and they still didn’t tell him what was going on.
    4. Big Joe either killed himself because Bertha had died and they said that when he died he would see her again. Or he could have been over near the church because he knew that his mother had told him that were people went when they died and when he was with Molly he pointed up at the cross that’s on top of the church.

  36. 1. The author bounces between Tommo as a young man and Tommo's memories of growing up. Why do you think this is? I think he does that Tommo can keep his memories.
    2. All the chapter titles are times: Nearly Quarter Past Eleven, Ten to Midnight, Twenty-four Minutes Past Twelve. Why do you think this is? I think this is so we know what time is it.
    3. Why does Tommo feel ‘betrayed’ by Charlie and Molly meeting with each other without telling him? Tommo felt betrayed because Tommo liked Molly.
    4. Why did Big Joe climb up to the top of the church tower? Big Joe thought that Birtha was at the church tower because Big Joe thought heaven was at the top of the church tower.

  38. 1. The author bounces between Tommo as a young man and Tommo's memories of growing up because, maybe he wants to live and remember his past mistakes or the happy or fun times.
    2. All the chapter titles are times: Nearly Quarter Past Eleven, Ten to Midnight, Twenty-four Minutes Past Twelve he does this because, maybe we want’s to remember the time that he did these special events.
    3. Tommo felt ‘betrayed’ when Charlie and Molly met with each other without telling him because, Tommo liked Molly.
    4. Big Joe climb up to the top of the church tower because, he wanted to be where his father was and Birtha.

  39. 1. The author bounces between Tommo as a young man, and Tommo’s memories of growing up. I think it is like that because the author wanted to make it look like a journal of Tommo’s life story that Tommo is writing himself.
    2. All the chapter titles are times on the clock he is probably writing like this to symbolize that he stayed up all night telling his life story.
    3. Tommo feels “betrayed” by Charlie and Molly meeting with each other without telling him, because he is probably very jealous of molly, who he likes, I am guessing.
    4. I am guessing Big Joe is in the church tower because he thinks it is heaven

  40. 1. In the beginning of the chapter the Germans shoot a poisonous gas to their trenches and Charlie’s and Tommo’s team was struggling to put on their gas masks. Since Charlie was back at home Tommo was alone he ran as fast as he can he didn’t care where he was going as long as he ran away from the gas. Tommo’s gas mask unfortunately came undone and while he was running he couldn’t run without breathing so he took a small breath breathing in the poisonous gas. His eyes started to sting and his lungs burned but luckily Tommo made it out alive and went to the hospital sadly many didn’t make it.
    2. Charlie lies to the family about ‘having a fine old time’ because he doesn’t want Mother, Big Joe, and Molly to be worried about them.
    3. Tommo doesn’t desert the army because he is afraid that they will find him and kill him.
    4. Ann died while she was walking down the road and a shell exploded and killed her in an instant.

  41. What makes a good protagonist is the roll and story the character has in the book say if he is boring not good say if he is fun or adventuress good protagonist. That he was Presbyterian so then Mrs. Backer would have to watch him because he does not go pray like the others. He was a designer for Hoodhood and associates. Because maybe his name is really bad or offal sounding. Cole
